Erupting on Lead Changing Shot
« on: February 14, 2009, 02:16:41 AM »
Is there any bowler out (PBA or Tournament) that will get pumped up or erupt as soon as they take a lead in a tight match?

Let me explain. You see this on the PBA telecasts only when the Bowler has put the game out of reach. Its pretty easy to act tough when you are sitting on a 40 or 50 pin lead (This is main reason I never liked PDW).

We have a guy in our area that will get going after a double (1 or 10 pin lead it doesn't matter). He is pumping himself up and I am sure trying psych out his opponent. It is very entertaining to watch.

Pumped up? Yes
Erupt? No

There are only 2 ways for me to bowl well, I either have to be pumped up or my mind has to be elsewhere besides on bowling. When I'm bowling for a purpose (money, challenge, respect) its fun for me so I tend to get a little pumped up.

I don't do it in league or anything like that but some bigger tournaments seem to bring it out in me.

Yeah. I get pretty pumped when I throw the big shots. Usually it's when I need a double in the tenth I'll "erupt" as you put it after the first one, then I'll really go when I lock it up.

I used to when I was younger, but I realized that it didn't help me...and that I looked like a giant douche.

Let the score do the talking...

Usually when bowlers have a 40 or 50 pin lead, they have a monster game in the works.  I know I get pumped up when I have a 250+ game in the works, and why shouldn't they?  I know this isn't always the case, but I'm sure it's the case for some of it

I usually hold back until I have it won then I will get a little fired up. but no yelling or erupting

I would go with that, but you hear from a lot people "Act like you already have been there."

i pretty much stay quiet unless i make a high pressure shot and won something, then i slap it down or yell or whatever. imo if you need a double and you get the first one theres no reason to celebrate, you didnt get anything yet. if you celebrate and then dont get the second one it makes me look bad. my coach kinda makes fun of me when im in a close match and take the lead late or carry something terrible and dont say anything like "thats how you carry the......"

also if i get too excited i start to make bad shots. so when i go into the tenth with 9 in a row, until i get the 12th, ill just fist pump or something and walk back and stare directly at the floor and start my routine over again.lol

When I'm in a tough match and the other guy makes a strike and yells I just sit there. It makes me even more in focused in the match. I get up and throw a strike just to shut them up (I don't yell or anything).

the only time i really ever got loud, was during a hs singles tournament. i was struggling with carry and knew i needed the back 4 and good count to get back into cut looking at other scores, i rolled a 2 pin on the 4th shot and slapped it out and yelled something like YES but thats it really.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.
