Need help....ball just under my mission
« on: April 03, 2010, 02:44:39 PM »
My mission is drilled with my fav drilling, pin under bridge(5" p2p) 70ºmb with a low weight hole.  My fast is drilled exactly the same.

Now, im looking for something thats just a couple boards weaker than my mission, but with a different look.

a few balls im looking at....

C-system 3.5 - probably too strong
C-system 2.5
Another mission drilled weaker(duh)
Pure Swing or something from the swing line
Reign or Reign of Fire
Virtual Energy

Anything anyone can come up with is greatly appreciated.

Shawn

Nomad Solid, Lunatic would fit that gap nicely

Onyx Vibe is an overlooked ball, awfully strong for the price point and pretty smooth, not going to be as strong but it'll give you a different look.

I have a Mission drilled similar (same pin no weighthole), and my "step-down" ball is a Hot Sauce (drilled with a basic pin above ring 5X3 layout). Definitely weaker than the Mission overall (3 maybe 4 boards on "real" oil), but has more length and a touch more angle at the breakpoint. I think it would be perfect for what you are looking for.

Yeah, a lot of those balls are stronger than the Mission. I would probably go with the 2.5 if you wanted something totally different. You might be suprised but considering the balls you could probably throw a Freeze inbetween the Fast and Mission, but there might be overlap on the Fast.

I do agree though if you like the ball so much why not drill up another one with a weaker layout and then toy with the surface.

I would probably go above the Mission though if I was you and drill up a ROF or 3.5.

Well, once again, i have VERY little room above the mission, at least for a while.

I dont have the extra time to bowl many tournaments, & all of the house conditions i hit are more than dry enough to make my mission seem REALLY strong.

I may just go ahead & drill up a 3.5 & polish it up, simply because i want to drill one.

My MAIN choices(at least to me) right now are the 2.5, 3.5, & another mission. Nothing else really excites me, although the Pure swing looks nice & i havent drilled a c300 ball in over 10 years.

If you're gonna drill up the 3.5, put it pin closer-ish to axis.  I demo'd a 3.5 and the pin was something like 3 inches p2p for me, and it was realllly good at smoothing out the breakpoint.  My Mission covered roughly the same amount of boards as the 3.5 did (Mission is 4x4 with a 1 inch pin buffer), but it was a lot rounder in reaction shape.

I have a pure swing that should be here tomorrow.  It is definitely the ball, I have chosen to be a little weaker than my mission.  Currently, I'm in the process of updating all my old equipment due to the fact I have not been bowling seriously since 1999.  Jan 2010 is the first league I've joined since then and I currently have a 206 avg.  Tuesday or Wednesday I'll be posting a review on the pure swing.

2010 is the first time joining a league since 1999.  Over a 10 year lay off and haven't lost much of my game.   This year currently HG-279, HS-733.

i went with a polished ROF with 50x5x35 layout and it works well can bump my feet a couple boards and lock it in
