VideoBallReviews....and the balls that have caught my eye!
« on: July 20, 2008, 10:25:53 AM »
Don't own any of these....

Here are the ones that have caught my eye recently...

Some old.....Some newer!

Pin Down Track Temper!

Don't know anyone who doesn't love this ball!

Pin Down Twisted Fury...sweet!

Copperhead/Swarm series
Copperhead probably too low RG for me but still looks good....  Swarm impressive like the great Rampage!

The GREAT Black Widow...(Track Temper looks similar but different)

These are some wonderful bowling balls!  Others,

Wrath Dead Flush

Resurgence, No Mercy.....

Anyway...what a great site...my new favorite place...video ball reviews!

I rarely watch video ball reviews but when I have it seems to me that they are always bowling on what appears to be a wall.  Also, it seems to me that most of the balls react similarly and are rolled along the same line (usually 15 at the arrows out to the dry to get the bumper back to the pocket).  Don't see how anyone can get any particularly good info on any ball from looking at some of these videos.

I'm particularly feel I'm getting something out of it....when they do ball comparisons....and superimpose 1 on top of another!

I also enjoy the occassional two pin positions comparisons done between the same ball sometimes.

Brunswick videos seem to do a nice job showing the spread between balls in how one plays them in relation to each other!  (ie see swarm versus copperhead video to see how good the information provided is..)

This is why 95% of the videos i do are also done on a PBA shot or something flatter than a house shot.  A THS will blend reactions there is no doubt about it, but the flatter patterns tend to show a balls true colors.

And no im not always at 15 at the arrows, sometimes when i have a hook in the box i get daring and i migrate into 20

I can confirm this impression. When I try to make a ball comparison video, a THS tends to blend the ball's charactersitics out quite well. Both breakpoint and reaction shape become very similar, it looks as if you would play the balls into the same spot from anywhere, and there's much help to guidem them to the pocket. I found longer and flatter patterns to be much more "useable" for comparison videos, because the different line you can or must play become more obvious.

Another nice feature of Britton's videos is the take of the same shot with different cameres from different angles, so you can have the same shot in total and as a back end close-up. That's really nice to judge a ball's reaction

Yes....the different pin position comparisons, PBA or US open patterns, and ball to ball with same drilling comparisons....all make the site very valuable for me.

I also as stated love the Brunswick video comparisons and notes Billy O. makes about the moves he makes between balls.....excellant!

Question....Do Billy O. or Chris of Buddies ever throw anything but strikes!
Both guys throw it SO good.  Give them anytype of crown and a lane by themselves and watch out.

I love the way these guys do it!  So smooth....so dynamic!

AH, but Luckylefty, all the videos show right handed bowlers and YOU throw with your left hand! Don't you get confused? Or do you watch the screen in a mirror?

When ya comin' to visit?
