POINT SYSTEMS
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:45:13 AM »
I would like some feedback from you guys on the way leagues score their points
4 point
7 point
21 or 22 points
which is most conducive to a complete and fairly balanced league? or is handicap the only way to balance the league? I saw a report where the bottom half of most leagues have a 10% chance of winning the league where as the highest average has a 70% chance. No wonder there is a continual decline in bowling leagues. Why would you want to beat people you are almost guaranteed to beat anyways.

dont know if this is a great system but our mens leagues use the following

9 points total, (5 person teams)
1 point each game and total for team
1 point each player total handicap series

i personally like having both a team point and individual point mix in any semi to competitive league

25 points per night.  We use match points, so one point for each head-to-head match, plus two for the team game.  Three games of that is 21 points, plus four for team series.

Trios 27 points

4 points for a team game = 12
1 point for each match point = 9
1 point for each match series point = 3
2 points for high team total wood = 2
1 point for high team game = 1

I would like to see the game points go from 4 to 5 for a total of 30 for the night.

Both leauge's I'm in use a 7 point system.

2 point's per game won, point's are split for tied 5 man handicap score's.
1 point for series, point is split for tied handicap series.
