need help choosing surface
« on: May 28, 2010, 09:48:26 AM »
i am rev dominant, slow ball speed and a lotta hand.  my first two games are with my natural, very good scores (for me) 220+, then game 3 i continually go high, no room to move because i started left to begin with.  to cope with the carry down i want to change ball, so do i go with a dull surface drilled strong to drive thru or should i be changing to a pearl type surface.  another thought i had was to drill another natural weaker or use the same layout as my #1 but take the surface from 2k to 4k.  appreciate some input from those that have solved this little problem.  tia

Have you ever used a pearlized ball without polish? Say 2000?  Thats my carry down weapon of choice (Break Pearl rico). Otherwise pretty much any High rg ball should help with carrydown. It would also help with an actual number for your rev rate, "lotta" hand means nothing.

i am going to order the hammer jigsaw trap, it is a pearl, if it requires oob adjustments i could try your recommendations.  sorry about the lack of info, my proshop op describes my revs as med to med high, i don't know what that equates to, there is an instructor in the house with tons of digital equipment but i have never asked him to determine my vitals.

hamma,

I too am a rev dominate RH bowler, who can create a lot of axis tilt and rotation, but I too do not create the desirable ball speed for my rotation.  I have always found the most important part of choosing equipment is making sure I have at least 4 1/2 inch pin to CG which gives me more drilling options and ensures I can correctly drill a certain ball.  I really like the Sean Rash type drillings where one might think you just drilled the ball for a lefty.

Is your Ogre in OOB? If so does it help if you switch to that ball for the third game? It is polished quite a bit OOB.

my ogre is currently at 4k abralon + finesse it II.  picked up the avalanche urethane yesterday, less than half a game on it but it might have some promise, will also be adding the rotogrip grenade next week, my proshop op has it waiting for me.
