Need Help finding a new ball
« on: November 21, 2007, 12:18:17 PM »
Alright well lets start with some background, im 20 years of age, and am currently using a Brunswich Red Alert Zone fingertipped ball. I like the ball but it's just time to get a new one. I'm just looking for a new ball that breaks late and is a good buy. I'm a poor college student so yea...i dont have much money to be throwing at a new ball.  But anyways I'd appreciate you're help if you could find me the best ball for the money.

I agree with Deadbait.  But, give us a profile.  What is your ball speed?  Are you more a cranker style or stroker?  Do you want something with control or a snappy reaction?  Do you want to stay with Brunswick or would you consider a different manufacturer?  One last thing.  Instead of "a good buy", simply give us a budget as to what dollar figure you want to stay at/under.  All those variables are going to help us pinpoint what you are wanting in a ball.

For the best buy, surf the on-line pro shops and look under their close outs or bargain listings.  When you find a ball you like the looks of, click on it to get the manufacturer's description of how it will react, or go to the manufacturer's web site.  Check the reviews here and at

You'll end up with a ball that was top line a couple of years ago, but they still perform well.  Good luck  --  JohnP

See i'm not good with the lingo of the bowling world like a crankger or a stroker, but i know my ball hooks late, and hooks hard, so maybe that will help. And as for a price range definately under $100.  As for ball speed i'd say i have a medium speed, i don't throw it hard, but i don't throw it too soft either.  And for the brand of the ball it really doesnt matter as long as it's a good ball.  But ya i do like my red zone ball.

what about the COLUMBIA 300 WRATH SF or the LANE #1 TSUNAMI H2O?
Also is there a preferred ball weight? Mine right now is a 14# i believe so when i get a new ball should i get a 14 or a 15?

I'm leaning towards the columbia wrath sf right now because i can find them at a very reasonable cost. Is it a decent ball? all the reviews i've read the people liked the ball.
