Need help for this condition...
« on: June 07, 2005, 04:30:34 AM »
So I am bowling in this "tournament" league this summer, and the pattern we have been on the last 2 weeks has been giving me fits. I think it is pattern #5 on the Sr. PBA tour, or some likeness of it. Somewhere around 42-45 feet of oil, and flying back-ends that produce a horrendous wet/dry reaction. I don't typically like skid-snap reactions because I tend to leave a lot of splits from the ball jumping through the nose. I have tried playing 4th arrow with my black Vendetta, played up the 3 board with it, tried the Sonic X over the 3rd arrow, and the Stinger LF up the boards between 2nd and 3rd. The best look I have gotten so far has been standing right with my XXXL and firing direct at the 1-3 pocket - allowing for a small break at the backend. I leave a lot of single pins with this shot, but not any splits.

I am thinking of taking my Urethane Vector 1 out of retirement for our final night on this shot. I am really frustrated, as I thought the long oil would be fun, but with that horrible wet/dry, it is giving me fits. It would be great if he didn't strip before oiling them - I can play light carrydown on long oil. Anyway, will the urethane tame down the backend enough? Where do you like to play on this type of condition?

Just FYI... I scored better on the ABC pattern than I am this one. Everybody else in the league is just the opposite of me - they are tearing this one up, but floundered on the ABC.
