Last night during league, I started out throwing my Wired. The typical conditions are a THS, oil amounts varying but not very widely. I usually throw standing 20-25, out across 10-15, depending on the condition at the time and adjusting as the night goes on. Ball speed is usually between 15-16 mph.
Last night, I threw my first shot standing 20 and throwing over second arrow. Ball hit the target, but made a strong jump on the backend and came in on the nose. I moved inside for my next shot, 2 boards keeping the same target. Ball came in way soft, taking dead aim at the 3 pin. Normally indicating I got hung up in the oil, but my ball speed was just over 14! I don't see that low of speeds unless I play way outside and get caught up in the dry too long. I moved further inside for grins, and again ball speeds 14mph area. I moved the backswing up a bit and got over 15, but the ball was hitting like a pumpkin.
I ended up switching to a ball that makes it further down the lane, before making the turn. This allowed me to get a nice angle to the pocket, but I am baffled why for one whole game, the ball looked like it was caught in oil, but the speeds indicated otherwise. I felt good throwing the ball, and even the hit wasn't the normal power I usually see.
Anyone have any ideas?

D <~~~~ Used to be terrible wiffing 10 pins. Now through much practice, can wiff any single pin spare at any time.
