Level 1 certification
« on: September 13, 2004, 01:32:24 AM »
Sunday I just took the USA Bowling level 1 certification, and I must say it was a good experience.  They taught us some of the tools and tricks to help out the youth and older newcomers to the sport of bowling.  Personally, I would recommend this class to anyone who would like a little insight on coaching or just for themselves.  I took this class so that I could start coaching for the yaba in my area.  Has anyone else ever taken this class?

If you are around Grand Island NE and just took the class this last sunday, let me know who you are, you probablly know me from there.

Rabbit

I missed the Level I and II but have taken the Bronze and Silver conferences.  Both of those are very good.  I went to the coaching summit in Las Vegas back in June and it was fantastic.  Real coaching at the YABA level is really needed.  I've been ending up with high school bowlers that have been bowling for years with the lack of basic knowledge at my doorstep.  You might also look at the Dick Ritger program.  It is great for teaching fundamentals.

Where/how do you get these certifications?

Yes, I urinate on my ball...it doesn't give me better reaction or make my hands tougher.  It just makes me feel better.

Our class was sponsored by one of our local centers.  The instructor that we had there was 71 years old and she knew here stuff.  She made the class very fun and enjoyable.  If you talk to your local centers, they might be able to tell you if there is a program coming up in the near future.

If your program is like the class I went to, have fun using your non-bowling hand, I sure did and i think everyone else did too.
