I've always kinda wondered about posters that post they has this or that series or game. Maybe new too bowling I guess I can understand.

Is your self esteem that low that you need to pat yourself on the back? Just wondering.

SCOTT .. I don't think it's that ..I haven't had any HONOR scores to post but I think they are posted more to TELL SOME ONE. What I mean is .. you shoot one of these BIG SCORES and unless you are a bowler .. who understands? I feel they are telling us that I DID IT! I sort of like to read about it .. kind of keeps me looking for the same thing!

Joe--I guess I've been around bowling too long to be very impressed by any scores shot on a typical house lane condition. Now scores shot on tougher conditions/patterns I'll always pat the guy or gal on the back but even 800's on THS's just don't awwww me. That's just me just too biased I guess.

I guess it depends on your perspective. I consider everyone on here part of my extended family. Iâ€™m always glad to hear someone establishing a new personal best.

People come here to socialize and solve problems they are having bowling.

On the rare occasions that I can offer some guidance, it kind of gives me a warm feeling to know maybe my advice helped.

Without feedback from their accomplishments this site would just turn into a big chatroom.

I disagree on the 800s though. Its pretty hard to get lucky 3 straight games. While the THS does give us more mistake room, you still have to be accurate and make the right moves.

Ya gotta start somewhere!! We aren't all at the level to shoot those scores on tough conditions -- for some of us, the THS can be a tough shot, especially while we're learning to make adjustments or what ball to use when. This place is the only place I know where people with a common interest would give a rat's patootie -- can I describe the look on my wife's face when I tell her about the solid 8 I left in the 9th of the 2nd game?!?!? At least here, we can get sympathy, congratulations or the swift kick in the butt we need to keep us going...

I kinda think it has turned into a chat room of sorts. Maybe it's the same ole thing and why many older site users have left.

This site is the best bowling site but it sure could be better...cleaned up.

Thanks!! I needed it!! I have definitely noticed an influx of younger bowlers in recent weeks/months -- definitely gives it a chatroom-y feel.....

Your right Nollster it's probably the younger users. They do need a pat on the back most of 'em aren't getting the swift kick.

For the most part, the guys posting scores are either lower average bowlers or are shooting honor or close to honor scores. You don't read about many of the 220+ guys shooting 700 because the do it all the time. But when a 150 bowler shoots 600 for the first time it's a big deal (no matter how easy the condition). And even the high average guys get in a slump on an THS, so when they finally break out and shoot what they should be shooting, it's nice to hear about.

I don't mind seeing the scores posted here. Let's me know what scores are possible and gives me goals. I mean, when I reach that 248 average, I want to know I don't have to keep taking those expensive lessons or buying gyro-balanced, heat-seeking particle-titanium bowling balls.

I don't have a problem with someone posting their scores or averages or whatever. If it is their first honor score it is even better to know.

I have a problem when someone gets a bowling ball and immediately posts their scores for the first couple of games with it. Through my reviews or mini reviews of equipment you will notice I do not post scores....only what I see from the ball.

Back to topic. This place is like our own little community and being able to tell someone (often it is someone else mentioning it for you) about a recent honor score is just letting them know that you have done well.

I think it's cool when someone posts their personal best right after they shoot it. Regardless of what that best is.
We keep talking about how to encourage bowlers to stay in the game. Congratulating a newbie on a good performance is one of the easiest.

Yes it is... I'm not good enough to post scores that will get anyone else to pat me on the back, so I have to do it myself!
