the magic corner pin... is it just stricty coincidence???
« on: February 01, 2005, 05:30:01 AM »
last night i went to pot-bowl with some friends. well, i was practicing on a pair with a rather aggressive drilled Ultimate inferno and a storm eraser boost. well the carrydown was getting thick, and i started leaving 7s (leftie). massive amounts of 7s. a solid pocket hit would leave a 7 probablt 3 out of 4 balls. i adjusted back 6 inches, it was a ringing 7. same mark, another ringing 7 (boy was i getting practice!). i went a baord left... SOLID 7. stepped back 6 inches at the new board... SOLID 7. next ball was a strike, 7 pin tripped by the 4... moves my mark and feet 2 board right... SOLID 7. i switched to the Eraser, and i had a ringing 7. one game, NINE 7 pins.

we start bowling pot games, and i finish off the first game with a sloppy 227. well, the last 2 balls were *gasp* 7s. i adjust for game 2... the right lane left me ALL 7 pins. i never struck on the right lane that game. all 5 shots were adjusted from the last shot, all left 7s. the left lane was more forgiving, i left only 2 sevens, LOL.

i figured in game 3 i would just use a power groove tossed straight down 8. it worked for 2 frames, and then it also began the 7 pin countdown.

would the carrydown or perhaps the angularity of my pocket hits be the cause? i tried coming in sharper, coming in softer, more revs, less revs, a bit more axis rotation.... i was lost. and the thing was, a TON of the other guys were chucking corner pins.

whats the deal?
--------------------
i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. can i carry the 7 and level the deck with a $60 ball?

bring on the Lefty uprising!

too much deflection through the pin deck via too late of an entry angle.

next time try more of a move to the left and think about getting the ball rolling softly off the hand. you will need to maintain initial ball speed while doing this...
