Need some help please.
« on: August 06, 2018, 10:41:27 PM »
My Hammer Viral Hybrid is too strong for our new THS.  I'm forced to move a lot further left than I want to or am comfortable with.  With my slower speed this is resulting in too many high hits, cross-overs and splits.  So, before the fall season, I need to get something to fit under the Viral and am looking at the Ebonite Turbo/R, the Columbia Nitrous or the Track Tundra.  If anyone has used any of these balls I would really appreciate your suggestions as to which might be the best for the drier conditions.

Thanks in advance.

Tundra is the stronger of those three. Turbo/R is about 8 boards weaker for me than the Viral Hybrid. Nitrous about 6 and Tundra about 3. All balls drilled very close and hit with used 4000 pad..

Motiv Hydra. It gets down the lane and has great hitting power.
Balls: Motiv Trident Abyss, Motiv Golden Jackal, Motiv Hydra and Motiv Hyper Sniper. All made in the USA.

Practice playing deeper so you are more comfortable doing it.
Ignite your game, and set the lanes on fire. www.facebook.com/ignitebowling  or @ignite_bowling

It has been my experience that trying to find ever weaker balls to keep from moving in is seldom successful.  The exception might be going to urethane depending on your style.  I know I am an old school stroker, but following the oil in while going to stronger equipmnt, not weaker has given me a lot of success over the years.

+1 on what Avabob, and Ignitebowling said!! You might as well get that practice in, rather than spending money on a new piece!

Also, JamminJD's evaluation of the three balls is spot on!!

The Brunswick Twist and Columbia Scout are going to be in that Turbo/R range or weaker!

For me as well. Once the THS shot burns up, I rarely have any luck staying right, even if I "ball down", and I am speed- dominant.

Sounds like me except I'm in the slower speed class.  Last week I started with my feet on 25 and target at 15 (my usual position).  Then I moved to 30 and 17.  To make a long story short, I finshed with my feet on 40+/- and my target somewhere around 25 or 30.  I can't score from this deep and believe me I have tried.  I don't have a ball in my arsenal that will help me with this condition.  So, the only solution I can come up with is to get a weaker ball (under my Hammer Viral Hybrid) and I'm leaning towards the Ebonite Turbo/R and the Columbia Nitrous.  Don't know if either of these will work but at least they are on the cheaper side so won't be a big loss if they don't.  I have to say that we don't always have this condition but it happens enough that I need something I can throw when it does happen.

Thanks for your response.

not sure if you had thought of this but some older reactive balls have a pancake block. like the hammer razyr, or some faballs or brunswick twisters.

The Tundra is good choice, the Blue Vibe might also be a good fit.

Dave do you think the Vibe might be a little too close to the Viral Hybrid to have both?

Not sure what it is, but the vibes all have a better core shell matchup than the viral for me.
