I've not been bowling on a regular schedule this season, due to a job change, but when I do bowl, I often end up using an old three piece (pancake weightblock) ball with a mild reactive cover because it is predictable.
I want to use a little better ball, but every thing I drill flares too much, reads the lane too soon, and hooks more than I need by a long shot. I have tried milder covers, but used "normal" drillings, and they still end up being stronger than I want.
If I took a mild ball ( an orbit extreme solid ) and drilled it with a 1-1 1/2 pin to pap, would I end up with a ball similar to a three piece ball but with better rolling characteristics?
