wondering about diamond particle cover
« on: October 03, 2004, 02:30:13 PM »
I have been wondering about the diamond cover stock.

It seems that the particles would be virtually, if not truly, indestructable; carry down could cease to be, or be much less, a factor; other particles do wear down.

If the stock material that carries/contains the particles is significantly better than the average, that is less sensitive to oil absorption and the migration of plasticiser - perhaps similar to the soaker by Dynothane -I imagine that the life of the ball could measured in the hundreds of games.

All of us would like to have a dependable,  really durable ball.

I have also thought about adjustments to the grit...The only adjustment possible would be polish/cleaner. The diamond particles would destroy any papers or pads. And because the urethane base is relatively soft, aggressive effot to sand the ball could be a real mistake.

I have also wondered about potential damage to lane surface and drill bits.

I wonder if someone who knows more than I do would give me some teaching about this ball.

Inverted - Thankyou for your reply.  I think one of these balls will be coming to my house soon.
