From my experience these are pretty different.  Boardwalk has a good bit more volume to the outside, so the bump off the gutter isn't as strong.  Boardwalk is a kind of soft pattern, but nowhere near the same outside as cheetah.  You'll play boardwalk around first arrow, or just right of it (the gutter can play depending on lane surface).
