Title: Need Your help!!!!!!!
Post by: RevLefty on October 31, 2006, 01:08:22 PM: This old wood house that I bowl in giving me fits. I bowled great there last year, but they have changed the shot there recently. The have old guardian on the heads and the used to throw out minimal amounts of oil and i was bowling good there even at beginning of this year same thing med light oil with not very sharp backends.

Here is where my problem is. They decided to flood the heads to try to get the shot to hold longer cause the guardian in this house does not hold oil at all it breakds down in a hurry and carries down alot. My issue they have tripled the amount of oil in heads and by middle of second game the oil carries down and i can even get my heaviest stuff to wrinkle because of my ball speed and med revs. I didnt have this problem with the light amount of oil cause i could battle through the light carry down, but now that there is twice the oil and not so sharp backends to start it is a carrydown nightmare by end of second game and if i square up it hooks at my feet cant keep it left. By the third game I am throwing my biggest piece which is my double agent and it struggles to get back. Any suggestions i am all ears I am so frustrated with this condition, I have tried everything that i have in last three weeks with little to no success.please help.

Post by: Atochabsh on October 31, 2006, 09:10:32 PM: Change your targetting depth. So instead of your primary target being the arrows, try 1/2 way from the arrows and the dots. If that doesn't work, use the dots as your primary target.

I'm not the ball expert, but that is where i would start.

I dont know what to do, my one option I would love to do is switch to 16lb balls but i cant the reason why i went to 15 is due to shoulder issue, so i dont have the option to go up. I was maybe thinking a mammoth when it comes out. I was talking to my teammate tonight about this and the way all these companies are going is hook way down the lane angular angular angular and with my ball speed everything I throw skates thru the break point when there is a good amount of carry down. Nobody really makes anything to move early anymore.

I ended up just taking my Ultimate Inferno, throwing it about 13-14 ripping the cover off of it at 500 grit and pointing with it. Altho I dont have that problem there anymore as I have a much better roll, and balance of speed and revs. Plus the fact that my BW is a good 7-9 boards stronger dosent hurt, and now I dont fall off of every shot, as Ive improved my balance. But try and match the ammount of speed, revs, axis tilt and roll all to the right spot and if nessisary, point, if you have the rest of your game balanced you shouldnt have too much trouble carrying most hits.

Have you tried changing the surface of the ball so it starts up earlier?

Post by: alzgarvin on November 01, 2006, 08:48:52 AM: Revlefty, If you do not have a lot of other lefties on your pair....try going around "your" carrydown by moving outside with your ballpath and breakpoint. Sounds too soupy to move inside your carrydown. Hold the ball lower, slow your feet to drop your ball speed may help also to get the ball to set up before reaching the pin deck. Carrydown can be tough, esp if you have too much ball speed.Concentrate on a more roll type release instead of a side turn or lift upwards also. Hope this helps. Alzgarvin

Post by: 2EZ on November 01, 2006, 06:27:52 PM: I had the same problem for the last three seasons, bowling in league after a ladies teachers league - they all threw plastic and the carry down was murdurous. I finally found success this year, also figuring particle was the way to go.
I set up a Dynothane Vendetta Maxx with a 2 inch pin, pin just below and slightly right of ring finger, CG kicked out 2 inches from mid grip, balance hole 1 inch below pap, on val.
I play a tight line just inside the track, and if I keep my speed in check I'm finally able to kick out ten pins (righty).
This is what worked for me.

Post by: sheppy335 on November 02, 2006, 06:50:59 AM: i know this sounds stupid but try a pearlized ball, of course one that hooks alot also. It will store it energy throw he wet heads and carry down and then unleash it fury.
Sounds like your ball is buring up all it energy before it gets to the breakpoint and cant finish its job. I think a pearlized ball will do that and finish the job for you.

This is my thought and it could be wrong.
