negative track flare?
« on: April 26, 2008, 06:11:07 AM »
hey guys. i've recently been wondering about my track flare. which, as the topic suggests, is negative. i do track pretty high-my first ring being about 3/4ths of an inch from the thumb-but all the rings flare away from the thumb slightly instead of towards it. what does this mean? is it bad? any help is appreciated.

They're supposed to flare away from the thumb.  If they flared toward the thumb, that would be "inverted flare".

Where's the bowtie?

maybe i mis-spoke in the first post. after the flare rings pass by the thumb, they cut away from it instead of back in towards it.

the bowtie, i can't pinpoint exactly right now. but in a general sense, let's say i'm holding the ball in both hands and looking down on the grips and thumb. if i rotated the ball forward so that the thumbhole now faced away from my body, the bowtie would be clearly visible.

Well lets get basic here...  where's the pin on this ball?

Your description of the bowtie location isn't really descriptive enough to help out much.

If you know where your PAP is, the location of one of the bowties can be usually found on a line passing through your PAP and the pin.

sadly, i don't know where my PAP is.
but, the ball is an original inferno drilled pin under the ring finger. even so, all my balls flare this way.

If your a cranker, some crankers can do this with a ball and actually get it to flare that way. I think what he means is that the track gets closer to the fingers than the thumb as it flares.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

I have heard of nearly full rollers that track outside of the fingers like a 3/4 roller... maybe this is a case of that?
