Neo Tac Hook It and Lanemaster bowling ball
« on: December 09, 2003, 04:15:16 AM »
Does anyone throw LaneMasters bowling balls?  I have a couple of them and I love the Massive Impact.  I was cleaning the ball with Hook It and cleaned over the American Flag emblem on the ball and it started to melt.  Is that stuff really that caustic?

I used it to clean my blueberry one day and it changed the color of my lane#1 label. Its some purdy stout stuff.

On edit, I use red shop towels when cleaning my equipment.

I apply Hook-It with white paper towels and I've noticed that it frequently but not always leaves the paper towel with a little of the color of the ball I'm cleaning.  I've never seen it actually lighten the color of the ball or remove any label or serial number color though.

Seems like it only pulls the color out of my red balls.  I had a quart stuck in the top of my carrier, lid popped loose.  Dissolved the tube I kept the pucks in, took the color out of my linds xxxtras.

While I was cleaning the mess up, some of it dripped on down onto the balls, ate up a couple of finger grips in just a few minutes.

Definately some powerful stuff, especially on plastic.

I first noticed the effect on a Triton Heat--a red ball.  It pulls a little green off of my Sling Blade nowadays.

Cleaning my Ragin' Red Fuze with Hook-It leaves the second paper towel slightly red. The first paper towel is, of course, black with dirt and oil!!

While I try not to get it on the finger grips, I have never noticed any deteriation (sp?)from Hook-It.

Using Hook It on a spinner is where you have to be careful not to spin over inserts.  It seems to melt them (Vacu-Grips) and smears the residue on the ball.  I learned quickly not to spin the product over finger inserts.
