new ball
« on: May 02, 2007, 01:14:16 PM »
I have been throwing an old track heat with pretty good success.  it's starting to crack around the finger holes and is going to have to be replaced.  I am looking for suggestions on something that will react comparably to the heat.  I have thrown mainly track equip. over the last 5 years but willing to give something else a try.   thanks

Try a Solution PP EX. They are pretty close overall.

i bought an equation a few months ago hoping it would replace the heat but it didnt work out too well.  the eq skidded too long and never seemed to grab the lane. i had to move way right and slow down just to get it to the pocket, which was surprising from what i had read about it.  would it help if i  brought down the surface of the eq?   thanks

Yeah they made a remake of the heat a couple years back. Highly recommend finding one to replace your orginal. I agree to the Heat is one of my all time favorite balls ever produced.

Since you really like the ball, have your pro shop plug and redrill the fingers.  They will drill out all of the cracked area.  That's a lot less expensive than buying a replacement, and the replacement may not match the original anyway.  --  JohnP

I would try a heat blast if you're looking for a little more in the front part of the lane. I have mine set up with the pin above and in the middle of the fingers with the cg kicked out a bit. Its turns the corner good on medium/light medium conditons, with clean backends. 2cents.
