Issues With Form
« on: December 20, 2012, 11:26:05 PM »
I have questions and concerns for mechanical issues in a youth bowler.  This youth bowler averages 220 so it's obvious he understands the sport fairly well.  However, he is having issues on his backswing and his five step approach.  On the third step his body starts opening and drifting to the left. This is quickly corrected when his body automatically starts sliding back to the right, causing a weaving motion.  Also the ball swing is not one steady fluent motion. In the backswing, he has a tendency of doing a "figure 8" motion.  The bowler is also coming out of the ball late resulting in his axis tilt being positioned directly on the x-axis or below.  Are there any suggestions the could help to improve this young bowler?

Thank you

The link below takes you to the index page of the forums at bowlingchat.net.  First you'll need to register on the site.  Then enter the Certified Coaching forum and read the first post under the topics.  It will tell you how to make a video for analysis.  Post your request and the video and Jim Merrell, a gold level certified coach, will analyze your bowler's game and make recommendations for improvement.  He has had a great record of helping bowlers this way.  If you wish, read some of his posts before making yours.  --  JohnP
