New Ball for my Arsenal
« on: July 26, 2008, 01:54:10 PM »
Don't know my exact stats, but I know my speed is around 15-16 mph, low revs, so basically a high-speed stroker, but can put a few revs on it when necessary. My arsenal right now is:

Storm Dimension
Track Kinetic Energy
Columbia 300 Wrath Dead Flush

Looking for an idea of what I should add to my arsenal, as I want to add something before I go to school and bowl in college. Either a weaker solid to fit under my Dimension, or something that has a lower RG that will rev up and hook earlier, as all of these balls moreso snap at the end.

a Storm SureFire, L/M XS Power, Avalanche Solid at 2000 Abralon, Noize.

Any of those are good balls to add to any arsenal.

Avalanche and SureFire would be good for when the DF is moving too much on backend.

XS Power and Noize would cover sam conditions as K.E. but would not be as strong as the K.E. in the back, more mid-lane movement

Do you have a suggestion of a ball stronger than my KE but weaker than my Dimension? Preferably something that will start hooking earlier in the roll, as opposed to both balls, that hook later downlane.

Roto Grip Pluto.....

Think would be exactly what you are looking for...

Trust me ..

The Pluto's numbers are a bit misleading...

2000 Abralon surface reads the lane pretty early and with a early rolling drilling would fit the bill quite nicely...

The Cell is another example...the RG is 2.57 but the cover is so strong that this ball starts rolling at the arrows....

If you want a weaker solid than those two...

Storm Street Rod...

I dont know what srlunatic is thinking, but a Pluto is not the ball you are looking for.
A Cell is very similar to the Dimension in alot of ways, except the Cell starts just a little sooner in the mid-lane. And if you drill it right, it wont roll at the arrows, so Cell could be a possibility.
If you want something stronger than your K.E. but weaker than your Dimension, you'll probably want a ball with particle in it, something from the LaneMasters line. a Big Bang would work, a Terminator, maybe a World Class(blue one), a Guaranteed if you can get your hands on it.

I think the BVP Sidewinder or Ultra Zone would fit what you're looking for here.  From what I've seen, both of these get started in the midlane and provide good continuation through the pins.  Although the Sidewinder has some particle, I believe the Ultra Zone has a more versatile cover.

SVstar, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Avalanche Solid pretty comparable to the Dead Flush if not stronger than the Dead Flush?  I'm speaking in terms of boards covered, I know the Dead Flush is definitely a bigger backend ball.

I have a Storm Sure Fire, they have a hybrid coverstock and mine is very smooth, they have discountinued this ball but have seen some very good deals on ebay on the closeouts.

Yeah, you're right Strike Domination, that is why after mix-n-match gave some more information, I changed my suggestions in my 2nd post on this topic.
From what he wants out of a ball reaction, he wants a ball with particle, like the Sidewinder, but he wants it to be stronger than his K.E.

That is why I think he should go with a Legends/LaneMasters piece.
MY suggestion is a Terminator, Big Bang, original World Class(blue one), or a Guaranteed if he could find one.

I today saw the Ultra Zone thrown at my home house by my teammate. He loves it, and it was good to compare with him, because he also has the KE, and says it is a drop stronger. He does not use it at our house often, because it is too strong, which is what I am looking for something that will be able to help me on the less oiled sport patterns. I think I'm gonna go with the Ultra, but will take more input.

wait, I thought you wanted a ball stronger than your K.E. but weaker than your Dimension.

If you want a ball for short sport patterns, go with an Avalanche Solid, on sport patterns you want control more than anything.
Get an Avalanche Solid and take the surface to 2000 Abralon and that should work great on short sport patterns

As a high speed stroker you would probably like the reaction you'll get from Roto Grip's SD-73 Classic.  ("The Low RG (2.50), High Differential (.075) weight block is illegal by today''s USBC standards, but since it was approved prior to the rule change it is perfectly legal for all USBC and PBA Regional competition.")  I am a medium-high speed stroker (average around 16 to 17 mph) and surfaced mine with a 2000 abralon pad.  The high flaring SD-73 Classic has a very distinct and powerful hook that seems to find its way to the pocket.
