New Ball Warranties
« on: December 23, 2004, 10:00:02 PM »
Why will bowling ball manufacturers not cover a ball with inserts or a thumb slug after drilling? This seems kind of stupid to me. The only difference is you're lining the hole you drill with plastic, in the form of the insert or slug. They want you to buy their products, and probably 90% of bowlers use a slug or insert of some kind, so what's the problem with covering the ball with a warranty regardless?

I would guess for 1, the holes aren't beveled as much, which leads to chipping around the holes. And 2, super glue tends to promote cracking around the holes. This is what I gather. =:^D

CRSmith -- My experience has been that most ball companies will cover a ball that has finger inserts IF the holes are properly beveled and the pin is over 1" away from the holes.  --  JohnP
