I really like this about small towns.They try to keep their bowlers.

Since my company took over a small 10 lane center, we have increased the gross by 10 percent. Mostly due to better lane conditions and machines that run better.

That is unfortunately not close in my area, not the town I live in or the two neighboring towns.

Hell no.  Now, it's a fun place for open play and house balls.  But, I can't even begin the number of balls that had to be repaired because of poorly maintained machines.  Not to mention, the board of directors are a bit shady too.

There are still plenty of small mom & pop bowling alleys out near where we live. These bowling alleys usually have 6-12 lanes and are run by good folks. The only problem i really see is that the bowling alley( and the wood lanes themselves ) are 50-60 years old. Most of the owners can not afford new synthetic lanes to replace the old worn out wood lanes. It's a shame really.
