New Blue Hammer
« on: June 02, 2011, 10:56:47 PM »
Just wanted some feeback on the people that have thrown the new blue hammer. I know the WWRD is less than 2 weeks away. Is the ball pretty smoothe, how does it roll with surface adjustments? Etc

Get the 5-7 out! Geez

They are all over the internet for $85-ish shipped.

Blue hammers are listed as preorders on the web.

It should be an insteresting ball.   The cover is 4k while the original is 800.    My blue hammer does roll pretty early but one would not want it to go long.

Buddies doesn't seem to be a preorder ...
unless there's some statement to that effect on these web sites that I am not seeing.

All the main websites have the blue hammer in stock and ship immediately so I'm not sure where the pre order comment came from.

Mine will be here tomorrow and drilled at some point between then and friday.

Just by looking at the difference in finish between the original and the "new" release along with the core numbers, I would guess the "new" Blue Hammer will be a less aggressive ball then the original. The core and finish should give the ball more length and a very mellow finish down lane.

The Hammer web site has a video of I think 4 different people throwing the blue hammer if you want to check it out, it is being thrown on the easy street pattern.

Buddies was preorder earlier in the week.  They must have changed it.  Bowling.com has it as a preorder.

I don't go to the two other sites you posted.

I guess that's why they stress that this ball has to be thrown in dry conditions.  i rolled mine on the standard house shots and it lets me know when it's rolled like crap.  It's interesting they call the pocket hits urethane hits.  My friend compared the pin action of the original to resin and he told me that with my resin balls the pins blow upwards while the original pushes pins back while keeping them low.  I wonder how the pins will fly with the modded vibe core.

No matter what they suggest on the condition, most will expect this to be a re-release of the original and except the ball to be the greatest thing ever just like they think they remember the original.

As far as how the pins fly, I would leave that to the speed and entry angle of the ball.

I've used mine for two weeks or so and some bowlers don't know what it is and others are surprised that an old urethane ball can hit as hard as it does.  I am getting use to adjusting to the sensitivity of original urethane.  So far, it has been working pretty good on house shots.

@r534me:

As I remember when I used to throw both the Blue hammer and the Burgundy Hammer, your friend is right on point! The urethane hits would push the pins straight back, or slightly left and straight back, and they almost fell in military precision, into the pit, with the pins always staying low.

Thanks for the confirmation!  The bowl has some kind of camera that captures the frame and I captured it wth my phone.  Check out the hit.

I was playing up the 6 board on the left side.  It starts hooking at 30 feet and just slowly arcs to the pocket.

Anyone received the new blue hammer yet and drilled it out yet?  According to the posts in this thread they were available two weeks ago but I have not seen any yet locally.
