New Bowling Ball Reviews Website - [Questions?]
« on: December 28, 2009, 03:02:55 AM »
I may be willing to get a bowling ball reviews website up just like what Bill had, except updated in terms of appearance and features.

It would require a lot of work and some minor financial backing (approx $100).

PM me if you''re interested in contributing to this new project.

I would go through the archive.org''s bowlingballreviews.com site to import all of the old bowling ball information.

Also, I would plan on going through a community process of buttoning down a review template and a ball spec template.

I would ask BallReviews.com members and other major websites what would be most important in terms of information for the ball and for the review.

Please let me know if this would be of interest.
BowlingBallReviews.com on archive.org will only serve the community in terms of old, obsolete bowling balls.

We're up to 20 responses on the survey now, great job guys, keep em' coming.
In the meantime, i'll dispel some doubt in a few of the responses.

1. No religious or political content will be on this new ball reviews site, in fact there are no plans for a forum, strictly review content.

2. This will be a 5 star rating system, with the ability to increment at 1/2 star at a time, Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down will be for usefulness of the review.

3. Trading on this new reviews site should be done at your own risk, if you need to leave feedback for a member, you can do so on their user page, but there will be no numerical rating.

4. Custom avatars will be available, uploaded pictures included.

5. Advertisement content will be a small letterbox at the top and/or bottom, bowling related and strictly controlled.

I hope that this comes about.  I enjoyed the old BBR site, and would like to see something like it again.  Keep us posted on what's happening.

a standardized review as BowlingChat stated would be nice.  In addition to those requirements it would be nice to know what type of surface they were bowling on and the lane condition(pattern) if at all possible.  Plus you could go so far as adding the bowling center's indoor temperature/humidity.  Looking forward to seeing what materializes.
