I don't understand the angst over releasing upcoming product info.  It's not like it's a national security secret.  Besides, the pros are getting these balls earlier and earlier and they're showing up in public.  But some of this info is "assumed" and can be inaccurate.  Bowlersmart had the Motiv Blue Tank on its site the day after Wesley Low used it on TV and all they did was photoshop a Purple Tank and report that it used the same core as the Purple Tank, which was (at least to me) known to be wrong.  They also have the Motiv Pride Empire for sale on their site now that EJ used it on TV.  And you can't discount the manufacturers "leaking" info to certain people in order to generate interest.

Negatively impacts the selling power of current line equipment when the consumer already knows what is coming out months in advance.

Then maybe they shouldnt hand out the balls to the staff guys 2 months in advance?  Either way it is going to get out to the public before its "intention".  This lack of secrecy falls squarely on the manufacturers.  Cant let the cat out of the bag and then complain that the cat has gotten around and exposed.

The manufacturers have a release schedule you can follow by looking at approval dates on bowl.com over the years.

I understand that.  But the name of the ball doesnt give away what it looks like or the specs.  It is only a name.  I went through this personally back in 2016 when I worked at Classic.  When the Mission Unknown was being released; we got the info apparently before it was supposed to get out to the public and I posted on this site about it.  Well the big whigs at Ebonite contacted the President of the company asking for it to come down because they were going to hold some event with the official announcement.  So I got to be on a conference call with Ebonite and they said they were not upset but appreciated the excitement being brought to their company but the info I was leaking was before their intended announcement date.

If the balls are spread out based on performance, this shouldn't matter. The problem is, some manufacturers release similar products in a shorter window. Becomes even more of an issue when you own multiple brands. They should do a better job in that regard if they are concerned about lost sales. And if it's a good product, it will sell regardless. There are some balls on the market that have been there for years. If people aren't buying balls, I don't think it's due to what's coming next.
