is 900 Global is major company
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:46:20 PM »
Is 900 a major player or a minor company? Do you think the quality of their cover and cores can be on an equal level with the other heavy hitters I.e. Storm, Ebonite,Brunswick.

My proshop guy and I had this conversation today, he says 900 is a minor company, I said I think 900 is a larger player than Brunswick, maybe a equal to Ebonite and probably not as big of a player as Storm.

What are your thoughts?

well your driller was right they are a smaller company now but ebonite by sales and product released is the biggest followed by storm and brunswick then you have the smaller companies dont get me wrong 900 pours balls for other companies and their stuff is pretty good but ive heard alot of cracking issues with their stuff, same with the columbia stuff when made out of that plant. just my 2 cents

Good points abrown, I wasn't thinking of sales. But more so how much they R&D are they cutting edge or do they recycle alot. Does the technology stand up with other technology from their counterparts.

Still great points I hadn't thought to look at it that way

If the balls are cracking that much, than I'd be knocking on your drillers door.  I've been throwing 900 Global/AMF for the last year and a half, and haven't had one ball crack on me.  I've thrown just about every release they have put out, even the international stuff, and limited stuff.  But yes, they are a minor company, but they do play a big roll.  Alot of Global/AMF stuff getting a good amount of play in my area.  Right on par with the other companies.

I jumped ship from Lane #1 after 900G started pouring their covers. I had zero issues with half a dozen balls from them before 900G. Literally every single ball I had punched out after 900G was pouring them had various issues with the covers ranging from chunks coming out of the side to material breaking off near a weight hole and areas around the slug/grips. One particular SuperNova that lost a chunk of surface off the side was very telling. Just by touching the material affected, it was noticeably brittle. Like very cheap plastic-feeling brittle.

Palmer Falgren drilled every single one, and he's no hack. It was all done in his new shop with new equipment too. I haven't had any problems with the Storm stuff I've bought since, all drilled by the same guy with the same equipment. Hardly a coincidence.

I've own almost every Global and Amf ball along with another local bowler and many of them just sit around the house. Knock on wood I have not had one crack yet! I did have when drilling up a creature pearl found a small air bubble in the coverstock but thats it!

I agree with Gunny on this I have thrown Seismic for about a year and I own every ball they have on the U.S. Market, only had 1 issue, my Epicenter cracked due mainly to my stupidity leaving it in the car bringing into the bowling alley then back to the car for the night.

EVERY company has had a issue with cracking.

Global is MAYBE 2-3% of the market and total balls from their plant is probably close to 4% of ALL balls manufactured.

Yes, and we know all of these numbers because all of the bowling companies are publicly traded companies, just like their distributors.

Major, maybe not, but balls are excellent and service is top notch. I bought my first 900 when the Break pearl came out and liked it but didn't make any other purchases for a while. November 2010 I made the drop to 15's and first ball I bought was the Bounty Hunter Pearl. That was enough to convince me to build my arsenal around their products. I don't regret it for a minute. The Break Out is in the top 3 balls I have owned if not number 1. I have had one ball crack, the Break Point Pearl and they replaced it immediately. I just bought a new Break Point Pearl to replace that one due to how well it rolled and carried. Sometimes a little smaller company can be a better choice, they are much more personal in their service.

Last I heard they make 900 Global and AMF, and pour Lane 1, Storm Plastics, Phil Cardinales new company and may be even more.

Roll with 900 Global.

A. Not ALL manufacturers are publicly traded

B. I do not know of ONE distributor that is publicly traded

Not sure exactly what you are or were trying to say....I merely posted numbers in response to the question....
