New Lane Oils? Anyone encounter them recently?
« on: November 29, 2005, 02:50:09 AM »

My current house recently changed oil brand to something they
say is "new and revolutionary."

They are putting down less oil, but the lane is slicker and the
pattern supposedly lasts longer.

Well, they are correct, the stuff is slicker... I'm struggling
with adjusting to the new conditions but as far at the pattern
lasting longer, I don't see it. Carry down with this new oil
is a #$*%@ hassle as it happens almost immediately.

Any advice on ball/style choice for a slick low oil house shot that
appears to carry down quickly?

Thanks!

Chances are you are going to have to employ a number of moves until you find the right combination that works through the night. Chances are you will have to adjust your roll through the night to combat carrydown- moving from side roll to forward roll when the carrydown hits. A lot of times moving to a straighter trajectory can help, as well as something like a light load particle ball (or particle pearl) that will cut through the carrydown. You may have to set the ball down early to get more of a heavy roll as well as adjusting your ball speed. Practice, observe, be patient and your game will improve as you learn more about how the lanes break down with this new oil. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens.
