Tracers on bowling balls
« on: February 23, 2009, 04:00:46 AM »
I remember the days of the solid AMF 3-dots and the solid DW 5 Stars.  Those balls were especially awesome to watch the tracers as the balls go down the lane.

I would think that tracers would be especially important today as the ball reads friction. Since we cant see the changes of the lane (oil migrations) perhaps different patterns of tracers on solid color balls would help us read more clearly the balls reactions to the oil changes. The use of computers to might be able to produce some interesting results.

BTW, the HATE todays bowling balls (except for the Virtual Gravity) and all the colors. It is very distracting.

Any thoughts?

My ball is all black.  you can't even see it rotate.

It's a blemish elite black label.    I put tape on it when practicing to watch it's rotation

It is one of the reasons I still use yellow inserts.

My balls are still pretty much solid colored and the inserts stand out enough so they still act as tracers.

I'm surprised more people don't drill a weight hole on/near the PAP just to watch rotation. On my balls that do have a WH in that location, it's easy to see when the ball loses rotation.

Just use a bright colored thumb slug or finger grips.
