Shoes.....
« on: March 30, 2005, 12:22:35 PM »
I am curious which bowling shoe, company & model, is durable.  I have a pair of Dexter SST-5's that are about 3 years old, & the pushaway foot is coming undone by the big toe, and is getting bad.  I am not sure what shoe is the best out there, I bought that pair thinking I would'nt have to buy new shoes for 10 years.  Please point me in the right direction.

Nah, they don't actually look that bad....In person, they look almost NOTHING like that pic.  That pic makes them look almost even blue, with orange stripes and bright yellow laces.

Yeah, I was kind of assuming that they looked better than in that picture . . . I was looking for some new shoes earlier, and saw them. I was wondering how they made a profit if they really looked like that.

The Tour Ultra's were the pair that I was thinking about getting, best price I've found on-line is $129.  I didn't know if they were durable or worth the money.

How do they size up to the street shoes that you wear, same size?

If you are really looking for durability, Linds are tough to beat.  They may not look as fancy as some of the other shoes out there, but you'll be wearing them 10 years from now.

I had the same problem with my Dexter SST 5s and sent them back.  They replaced them with a brand-spanky new pair.  I had mine for a year, but have heard of others having success in returning them after 4 years....

I've got 2 pair of Lind's Classics and they wear like iron.  Excellent show but the technology is very dated.  They have also changed their production facility from Mexico to China.  The Mexican Lind's shoe were having major problems.  Now I am wearing a pair of Etonic ESL Classic Blacks.  I like them a lot.  The technology in this shoe is awesome!  They do not have interchangeable soles and heals but I do not need them.  The shoe is very comfortable.  They seem to be holding up well and I wear them as much as 20+ hours a week.

When I first got back into bowling, I bought a pair of white AMF shoes for like 30 bucks.  I bought them meerly because they looked like tennis shoes, not bowling shoes.  This was 6 years ago, and the shoes are still holding strong.

I bought a pair of Dexters this year, and within 5 weeks the stupid shoes were already falling apart.  I didn't spend very much, but 5 weeks?  I'm already back using the AMF shoes, and keep the Dexters around only in case of emergency

Linds like said before wear like iron and for the price are a good deal. The ABS/DynoRoos are also very nice but have not been out long enough for the appraisal for wear that Lind's has earned. The Newer Dexters like the 6LX have a new rubber sole with improved adhesion. If you don't bowl at a ton of houses or rarely find the need to change soles and heels, go with the Linds. If you bowl at a variety of locations try the newer Dexters or the ABS/DynoRoos. The only thing I had found though is Linds tend to be a little faster (more slide) and if you plant and heavy you might have a little adjustment time getting use to them. I have had all of the above shoes and liked them all. I currently use both the ABS and Dexter SST6's with no problem.
