Post Bowling HELP!!
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:24:53 AM »
Showed up to bowl in league last week. They had two subs practicing (it is a 5 person team)and one of their regulars was bowling with a soft cast on his sliding foot. Asked them if teir other team members were coming, and they said yes. Once practice was done, they told us they would have to post bowl, it was illegal and dangerous for the one man to bowl and they did not have the min of 2 regular bowlers to make a legal line up. Our team captain said OK and we stood behind his decision although we think they should have forfeited all 3 games. Well, we found out that they are post bowling tonight. They did not notify any person on our team. Oh yeah, they have the League Secretary and Treasurer on their team. Do we have a legit reason to fight this?

I would give anything to add some revs to my game

You agreed to the post bowl.  If you doubt their honesty have one of your team members show up to watch them bowl.  --  JohnP

IF there was a legitimate reason why they could not field a LEGAL team on the originally scheduled night, then the team should be granted a postponement and be allowed to post bowl.

IF there was NOT a legitimate reason, then no postponement should have been granted and the points should have been forfeited.

1. It does not matter whether league officers are on the team or not.
2. Your team captain did agree to allow the postponement.
3. The other team (or the league) has ZERO obligation to let you know when the team is making up their games.
4. This is one reason that USBC suggests a committee be formed to handle issues dealing with postponements.

So, to answer your question...you have a reason to fight ONLY if it can be proven that the team did NOT have a legitimate reason to request a postponement.
