Nice entry, very comprehensible.
Only thing that could be added is the fact that there are many different particle types, loads and sizes in use, which will affect ball reaction and friction ability on oil, e. g. carbide type particles that act like spikes on oily lane portions for hook upon lane contact and soft (rubber?) particles that create bigger "footsteps" on the dry lane portions?
