New site www.TamerBowling.com
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:57:58 AM »
Hi Everybody,  I'm a long time subscriber to this site and like the rest of you come here to check out ball chat.

I started a new blog at www.TamerBowling.com

This site is dedicated to all things bowling.  I will talk about bowling balls, techniques, coaching tips, honor scores, tournaments, anything you want.  Typical House Bowlers will be able to discuss issues as they relate to the typical house shot.  I will take the time to explain in detail tips that you might hear your local pro.  Beginners will be able to learn some basic beginner tips to get a good start to bowling with the right foundation.  We will discuss bowling ball reviews, reactions, lane play, arsenals and so on.  I intend to have in depth discussions on advanced game play, the physical game, different bowler types, etc.

Tell me when you roll a 300 or 800 series! Tell me when you roll your first 200!  Tell me when that light bulb turned on and you figured out what was wrong in your game.  Let’s share so that everyone can benefit.

I simply love this sport and as a USBC Certified Coach, I hope to help as many bowlers as I possibly can bowl as well as they can.

I hope you can join me.
Please let me know what you think.  I just started it a couple of days ago but content will be going up fast and furious.

Bookmark'd!  I like the darker background on the page - very easy on my eyeballs.

I hope that your site does well, and look forward to reading your thoughts and ideas.  Good luck!

Pretty nice.  I'm particularly interested in coaching/physical game tips so I'd like to see more of those.  The leverage tip + video should be a good help.

Justin, thanks for the positive comments.  There will definitely be a lot more coaching, tips, etc.

Scott, here is some quick info about me.
I've been bowling almost 30 years and carry a 220-225 average on a medium THS.  I have bowled on PBAx when possible. There have been years where I couldn't dedicate as much time as I wanted to bowling due to work obligations.  However, I am at a point where bowling is such a passion, I wanted to share some knowledge I have gained along the way and hopefully continue to learn from others more knowledgeable. I hope I can reach enough people to keep this sport going.
Since I am trying to reach many bowlers, I continue to stay on a THS.  In my area, I can't think if a sport shot/PBAX league running.  All the local centers cater to the THB.

Thanks again.  Keep the comments coming!

that flawed 15 vs 16 article turned me off to that site for good

no sources quoted, only hearsay, sounds like a pro shop operator with an agenda

As far as Tamer's 15-16 pound conclusion:

quote:
Today, most pros and pro shop operators prefer and recommend 15 pound equipment. The decreased weight and dynamic strength of the modern-day equipment work more effectively together to increase carry.

I don't agree with it in total. There are bowlers who's style dictates getting the ball into a hard forward roll, and for those, 16# equipment is clearly more effective. Otherwise, his conclusion is fairly sound.

Thanks again, keep the comments coming.
I can accept that there will be negative comments out there.  All I can hope is that I can receive constructive feedback.  If you have any information or evidence to support clarifications, please let me know.  It's an open forum after all.
Ultimately, my goal is to help bowlers.  If anybody wishes to contribute to that goal, please feel free.

Just checked it out & it Looks pretty cool.  Good job Tamer.  Not everybody is gonna agree with everything... that's pretty evident even on these boards...  Don't let the negative get to you, stay positive.  Good luck, but doesn't look like you'll need it.

Thanks again for the kind words.  I'll keep it going for as long as there's an audience.
To provide a reference , I thought the article from Del Warren in the November 09 issue of BTM, "A different look at understanding the art of teaching the physical game Listen!" was poignant.  Del talks about an experience he has where the student is essentially confused because she had 5 different coaches and 5 different set of ideas.

I don't expect everyone to agree.  We all have to continue learning.  I consider myself a student of the game, always.  There will be tons of coaches and pros with more experience than me and probably as many with less.  In the end, each bowler has the opportunity to select and apply the things that trigger something in them that makes them a better bowler.
