sandbaggers
« on: May 25, 2010, 02:30:03 PM »
i bowl in a league where the team i bowled tonight had three guys in the 140s for averages. They all go 650-700 series wise today and this pissed me off, considering i had a 218 average and went 769 today just to lose every game by 100+ pins. When will people just bowl their best all the time and make it a fair sport? People who only bowl their best when they need it is nauseating to me. I should just do scratch leagues lol.

sandbaggers do a GREAT disservice to our great sport!!!when maggots like them do what they do they show their inability to showcase their immense talent and take the lame duck way of the game.sandbaggers should be BANNED from the game if it could be proven that they are doing so.there is NO PLACE in the great sport of bowling for them stupid no good sandbaggers...!!!!!!

I know this is an anti-sandbag tale, but I still think it fits under the category of dirty tricks.

My personal favorite was a team where four of them played big hooks with a soaker coverstock for about 4 frames then switched to reactive balls.  Everyone's line on my team was destroyed.  The person I bowled against shot 670...but I beat him all three games and series with 698...using my urethane Gargoyle.

Needless to say, he was quite displeased at being beat like that...and tried to plead that my ball was illegal.

I enjoyed every minute of it.

I knew I bought that ball for a good reason.

i know like busdriver said this is a sandbagging thing but at my center i found out im hated by most of the big league bowlers because they say i spray and wash the oil around watever that means.  I never calculated my revs but i would ball park above 450 to 515 and 18-20 mph's...the one guy who throws the same as i do his wife said i have no skill and that i point and shoot the ball but with the revs i dont know how that is possible and that its my speed that i score well....so i said yea 16 300's and 10 800's and i have no skill...so when i bowl they all try to be obnoxious when i bowl and everybody tries to mess up my line which never works cause i can play anywhere except straight up the first arrow...if ur not with the incrowd at my center ur not liked by many which are all butt buddies with the owner.

I have a really hard time believing the OP.  Sandbaggers aren't dumb enough to show off their true skill unless big money is on the line.  They bowl just good enough to win and if they can't, they do just enough worse to not draw attention.  No one is going to throw off to a 140 average, then throw a 700 series just for the heck of it.

No doubt.  No one can sandbag that bad and get away with it.

I subbed in mixed league for my buddies team this past year.  The team he bowls against has this one bowler who averages 180.  First game shoots 268. Misses 10 pin.  Wasn't even close to it.  2nd game thru 6 frames he's on a pace to shoot about 150.  I starting paying attention to what he is doing.  Every ball is thrown on his strike line.  Doesn't matter what spare he leaves.  He throws his strike line.  Ends up throwing a 130.  Middle of 3rd game same thing.  I finally asked him about it.  His response, I don't need to make my spares tonight, this is just league.  Only try for them in TOURNAMENTS and when the team needs it.

I asked my team about them.  They have not lost the league in 4 years.

Once again, 9 gives an insightful, thoughtful, well drawn out answer to the problem.
