Need some help
« on: April 02, 2012, 04:10:22 PM »
I'm joining a PBA Sport League this summer for the first time so I need to get some new equipment. I currently have an Alpha Max and a Wicked Siege. Both balls have well over 200 games on them and the Wicked Siege has a crack on the bridge. I can only afford two bowling balls right now and maybe a third one next month before the league starts.. I've bowled on the Cheetah pattern once but that was 3 years ago.. I have no idea what to expect or what to get..

My stats: Avg rev rate is around 380 rpm's.. Ball speed is around 16 to 16.5 mph.. Don't know PAP off the top of my head.  Usually I drill balls two ways. Pin above ring finger which gives me a 5 inch pin to pap witch gives me some good length and some decent pop on the back end. Pin below ring finger gives me a 4.5 inch pin to pap and which I drill for control.. I also have a low to medium track..

I'm thinking that I need a solid, pearl and a urethane and maybe a hybrid. Any suggestions would be helpful. Balls I'm thinking about getting are as follows

Reckless
Too Reckless
Crossroad
Versa Max
Blue Hammer
Natural.

If you are looking for a good 2 ball arsenal in the Brunswick line for PBA patterns, I would suggest a pin up drilling on a Nexus f(p) pearl and a pin down versa max.  The versa max is a smooth rolling ball and even with the pin down drilling, it shouldn't hook early.  The Nexus pearl will give you the extra length with a strong backend movement.  The other good 2 ball arsenal would be a pin down Reckless which you can adjust surfaces depending on the pattern, and a pin up Too Reckless.  The Too Reckless will clear the heads a give you a strong backend movement.  If you are looking for an overall stronger ball, I would suggest the Hell Raiser Revenge or Nexxus f(p+r).  They can handle to higher volumes of oil and take well to coverstock changes by either polishing or sanding them.  You can't go wrong with a DV8 or Brunswick ball.

you wont need the natural and blue hammer
I  had both and ended up with the blue hammer over the natural

Our stats are similar and I can speak from experience on the Ebonite brand
My sport equipment is as follows

Symmetric (pin in finger or pin down)
track 300t
ebonite gamechanger
columbia Outburst

Aysymmetric
track 505t pin up and pin down (awesome pieces)
track 508a - pin in finger
track 715t pin up and pin down
track 919c - weaker than the 7 series

The new pursuit and pursuit-s are supposed to be spectacular from what my regional pals are telling me
