New World Team Record
« on: April 01, 2004, 06:43:18 PM »
Disclaimer...the record hasn't been verified

I was just informed that a new team record was bowled last night at Bowlerama Lanes in DE.  They shot 3934 besting 3905. I don't know the exact individual sets but one bowler shot 878.  Only 2 of the guys averaged over 210.  Apparently there were 3 800s and 3 790s in the same league.

I was told this as a contrast to two weeks ago when I bowled a tournament in this same house.  They were very low scoring.  It took 200 under for 8 games to make the first cut and I think 100 under for 12 games to cash.  Only 7 guys averaged 200 for the 16 games.  I qualified 2nd with plus 100 (206 average).  The scores were low because the tournament director decided to put a "Sport" shot (not sure if it was Sport compliant).  heresay disclaimer Apparently several bowlers complained to the manager that they were never coming back because "Bowlerama doesn't know how to oil lanes".  The manager stated that there would never be a low scoring shot again in there (when asked a few days later to put down a Sport shot for the Delaware Top 20 tournament). end heresay disclaimer

I guess the manager was right.

The Team "Limo Exchange" did indeed break the team record..the individual series were as follows:
Greg Zelano - 278,218,216 - 712,
Tony Cassetta Jr. - 257,247,212 - 716,
Wayne Romano - 279,300,299 - 878
Tony Cassetta Sr. - 257,258,277 - 792,
Mark Willis - 300,258,278 - 836.
Totals - 1371,1281,1282 - 3934
Along with this there were also 2 other 300's in the league as well as another 830 series...high scoring night in New Castle for sure.

Sounds to me like they had a big funnel to the pocket!

Nice shooting. I wonder how the boys from St Louis will feel now that their record is shattered.

6 on the Deck,
Unfortunately in bowling thats how it is. Damned if you do , damned if you dont. To anyone that has bowled 800+ you know it takes some good shooting. I dont care how "walled" they are.

Funnel schmunnel.  They still had to carry the corners to put up numbers like that.

And to think all I want is one lousy 700
