NIB Ball Types?
« on: January 08, 2005, 06:04:15 AM »
Just curious on the EXACT difference between a first run and second run ball...

As well as the difference between and X-out and a blem...

Has anyone had good expierience with second runs, X-outs, and blems?  It seems like they can be fairly inexpensive ways to get high-end equipment...

a 1st is perfect quality. Its like you would buy from a shop. a 2nd is just another name for a blem, or x-out (all 3 are the same thing basically). A blem can be because of a couple things. 1 thing that makes it a blem is a long pin (I think its like if its more then 5 inches?). Another is static weights. If its really high or really low it is marked as a blem. And color/stamping. If the color is messed up, not how it should be, or it gets stamped wrong, it becomes a blem.

BK25 pretty much said it all.  I would add that some of the Blems or seconds are marked either with a different label, like Bonanza, or with the letter B or the word BLEM.  And that it could be a blem because of small marks or pinholes in the surface.  This is all based on what I have seen, there may be more.
