NO EBONITE WINS ON TOUR
« on: December 15, 2008, 08:40:49 AM »
is anyone else happy to see EBONITE being blanked so far this year on tour? they have a few appearences, but count em... 0 wins on telecasts. storm/roto grip and brunswick have seemed to have certain things figured out thus far.

I don't buy it that one company has it figured out.  Chris Schlemmer might have figured it out given a Storm a rung up.  Storm might have more $$$$ to put out there to buy staff players and independents.  The Ebo staff players just haven't shined this year yet....that's all.  It's still the player first. I am NOT an Ebo, etal guy in fact I won't buy any of their products.

Ebonite problem as come from over expansion of the company purchasing columbia, hammer, and track.  If I recall correctly.  Have you noticed that much of the equipment now is having core and cover combos from each company.  They simply do not fit into the ebonite family.  I think right now ebonite is more worried about having the market on league bowlers rather the the pro tour.

this is just a what if question.  What would you rather have millions of bowlers using your stuff or a few guys winning on tour?  I think if your a business you would take the former.

Its hard not to buy an Ebonite product, they own at least half of the bowling ball manufactories.  They no longer need the Pros from the tour.  I have read way more negative reviews with the new Strikin Motion then positive reviews.  I think it will a couple of years for Ebonite to put it back together on a much larger scale and thier product will be back on top.  And I am not an Ebonite fan.

Didn't an Ebonite guy almost shoot 300 on TV and shoot a few during the week.

It is the Ebonite staff that have to adjust to the new patterns with covers.

It seems every year or so, a different manufacturer finds a way to get their shells to match the oil patterns better than everyone else.  Brunswick had a strong run for a while (while the tour was using Brunswick oil?), Ebonite dominated when the tour first switched to Kegel oil.  Now Storm/Roto seems to be on top.  It must be really hard to get it just right because all of these companies have some very sharp people working for them.  Ebonite did go through a lot of reorganization and growing pains recently, so I guess it's natural to have their resources spread too thin?

I think storm since 2000 has had probably the most consistent equipment on tour.  I do think that ebonite has just grown to the point that they can no longer make ball that is aggressive enough nor consistent to make the shows this year.  From my understanding that this year's patterns are not the standard pba patterns.  I think there is lighter oil volumes out there in years past, EXAMPLE this past weekend 3 lefties on the Shark.

Storm is the best because PDW throws it.  If you don't think so, he'll crotch chop you!

I think the fact of the matter is that the best players are winning and just happen to not be throwing Ebonite or any of their affiliates.

Ebonite makes solid equipment.  All companies do.

The only Ebonite ball I ever owned was a XXXCEL and I disliked it, however, I also throw tons of Hammer stuff and love it....

I wouldn't say it's so much of the equipment, but who's throwing the equipment.

Storm has a bunch of studs and Hall of Famers, Brunswick the same, Ebonite has great players since they're on tour, but I don't know who is even on their staff?

Last week PA was throwing Vibes according to buddiesproshop.com's section entitled "What's were they using"yet on Sunday's telecast he was throwing a HY-Road I believe.
PA had been a Hammer staffer for a few years after one unsuccessful season trying Ebonite, which apparently didn't match up too well with him.
Ken Simard was throwing a Playmaker while shooting 289,then losing in the title match.
TJ is supposed to be battling a wrist injury,I believe.

just because somebody kicked your butt with ebonite once doesnt mean you have to hate there equipment or just becuase you dont match up with it doesnt mean you have to hate there equipment... if your going to sit here and be happy that a company has no wins just go do us all a favor and jump off a cliff

It must be that special Utah based lubricant they are putting down on the lane.

Wes is having a monster year and he happens to have switched to Roto Grip. Roto hits a home run by signing him as there balls gets more TV time than Ryan Seacrest. Scroggins throws a lot of the Utah brand balls and he is usual self making 2-3 shows a swing = more TV time. If you recall, both of those guys have been making TV frequently the last few seasons period, not just because they throw Storm/Roto. Storm/Roto is smart for getting stuff in there hands because of the air time they are getting.

The Big B has a well rounded staff with Rash cranking it up , Angelo slow-rolling it, and Parker B still one of the better lefties on tour. Mika has missed the show 2-3 times or he would be on several times also.

I don't think this is true.  Allen had his most success on tour with Ebonite.  He switched to Track for a half of year, and jumped ship to get back to Ebonite.  The statement of Allen "trying" E for a year doesn't seem right. BTW, both Malott and Allen dabbled with Track and ran away.  Track needs to get Mitch beasley on a show!

Because any bowler is only as good as his/her ball (especially the pros) the fact that none of the guys have won with Ebonite so far this year shows that current Ebonite equipment is seriously flawed and inferior to Storm and Roto-Grip. Have you noticed the success the house bowlers have been having in the TQR? It's only the bowlers that are using equipment other than Ebonite though. Storm definitely is way ahead now. My six-year old nephew is bowling the first TQR in 2009 and he'll make the show because he'll be using Storm equipment instead of Ebonite. We've even heard that Tommy Jones has hired a lawyer to sue Ebonite for lost wages because the equipment is so bad. He has a good chance of winning too. He's got video to prove that he's throwing the ball better than he ever has in his entire life but that crappy new Ebonite equipment just keeps missing the head pin or leaving him splits.
