I’ve noticed some strokers get good skid and snap. When I say skid, I mean I’ve noticed little rotation on the ball in the beginning (if this is what skid means), but then the ball breaks nicely in the back end. Other bowlers with a cupped wrist (including myself), I’ve noticed that the ball is rotating right upon release. So, does that mean we aren’t getting any skid? I’m trying to understand exactly what skid means between a stroker, tweener or cranker release.
For the most part I would have to consider myself a stroker despite the fact I have a cupped wrist due to my lower ball speed (which to my surprise was only 14 or 15 mph when clocked). I have a low backswing indicative of the older days when a higher speed wasn’t so important. I can cross a lot of boards and I do get good rotation and back end due to the cupped wrist. I'm capable of playing any line because I have enough hand to play inside if I choose to do so. I just don’t see where I’m skidding like other strokers. Any clarification on this would be helpful.
