We had a Demo Day at one our local houses recently. It was the first week of November. This was not a house that I bowl at regularly, but it was one that I am familiar with.
The companies were Storm, Roto-Grip, 900 Global, Brunswick, DV8, and Radical. I got to throw a lot of pieces. I was impressed by many of them. The pieces I threw were the Tremendous; Vandal Strike; Intense; No Rules Exist; Hot Cell; Magnitude 035, and 055; Fix; X-2; Absolute Truth; and that huge hooking Strike ball from Brunswick. I could never get to throw the Honey Badger because none of the guys would ever put it down!!! Everybody loved that piece! Oh yeah, also the Katana.
Tremendous: fell in love with this ball right away. Loved the downlane motion. It is definitely a ball I can use on heavy conditions or change surface for something else.
Vandal Strike: I'm not a DV8 guy, but this ball surprised me. Much bigger move than I
was expecting to see, but very clean and controllable. One I may have to look at gain.
Intense: I did not like this ball off the jump. Don't know why, but just didn't. It seems to be a big backender.
Katana: better than the Intense, but similar in motion to me.
No Rules Exist: Big hooking, big backend, surprising piece. The one I threw had a matte surface, so I was expecting hook at my feet! Didn't happen. Got through the heads nice and clean but at the breakpoint a huge move, which made me think it would continue going left. NOPE! set up nicely and blew the hole up!! A pleasant surprise to me. Very clean for such an aggressive piece.
Hot Cell: I set up right of ten.....and hated it! Enough said.
Magnitude 035: this has got to be Brunswick's answer to the IQ!! This ball is smooth and controllable. Loved it right off the bat. Definitely a tournament ball, and a ball that should NEVER leave your bag. I might have to get two of these.
Magnitude 055: not as smooth as the 035 but closer to a THS killer type ball. I'm sure a lot of folks will love this ball.
The Fix: MEH!
Global X-2: Another one of those smooth as butter balls that everyone needs in their bag. Loved it! Great ball for the classic down and in player.
Absolute Truth: They weren't kidding.....it's the TRUTH! Big ass move at the break point, reminded me of the No Rules Exist, but not quite as clean. An impressive piece for sure.
Oh yeah, I also threw that damn Kingpin! All I can say is, WoW!!! If you want hook and a big move, this is what you buy! That thing was damn near uncontrollable for me, at my speed. Bigger move than the Truth or the No Rules Exist!!
