Is the PBA Experience league helping any one else?
« on: July 28, 2008, 03:54:17 AM »
I've been bowling ONLY a PBAX league this summer. No practice - 3 games a week - each week a different shot.
I've gotten my average UP to 160. Yes - I have done a decent job of checking my ego at the door. Only a couple of series got me down.

Anyway - yesterday I bowled on a house shot tournament. I scored very well - mainly because I had more confidence in my shot making - I knew when a release was bad - even if I got the strike. I knew when I missed - whether I got the strike or not. I was more accurate (still wouldn't have been accurate enough for a PBAX shot), and felt really, really good.

Until I lost my steam in game nine, my low game was 191. I had several clean games, and "only" missed two single pins all day. One of the best outings (not highest scoring) I've ever had!

Thanks PBA Experience!

Unfortunately for me the house I am bowling at is not doing a very good job with putting out the PBA shots.  The shots are not playing anywhere near what they were like last summer.  I brought in a new team this summer after I talked this league up during the winter and they are all disappointed with the shots.  Several of them (like me) have bowled in regionals and other experience leagues and we all agree the shots are not as advertised.

My average has gone from a 20x last summer to a 170 this summer.  I have had no look on any of the shots this summer, so this has been fairly useless "experience".  I have decided to not bowl at this house next summer because of this.

Paul are you sure its the shot?  I am just kidding...i agree with you that the shot they are putting out is not a PBA shot as advertised.  They do not even play the same week to week.  I also agree I am not bowling on it next year. It is not worth the $$$.

Bowling in a PBA Experience league last summer and this summer has greatly improved my consistency and accuracy and helped me learn ball reaction better.  I heard someone complain the other day in a tournament "Man, these lanes are playing tough, I've only got about a 3 board area at the breakpoint."  Yeah, I had 3 boards of area as well at the breakpoint, but I was hitting that spot consistently and shooting big scores when everyone else was struggling!  3 boards was more area than I was used to from the PBA Experience league where I had about half that area.

Nice work, mumzie.

Save some of that for Reno.

After not bowling much the last ten years I came back full time 2 years ago. My 2 ave were 199 and 189. I then bowled in my first PBA ex league and ave 185.
Last year my aves raise to 203 in both my leagues and my PBA ex league ave this year is 189. I would say it has helped some, I am able to identify good shots and bad shots, find the weaknesses in my game and toughen up mentally.

BC - I'm going to be there this year - and I'll remember to pack my game!
