2010 ARLINGTON LANES CANDLE-LITE FUNDRAISER (for a new car)
« on: January 10, 2010, 06:58:53 AM »
Hello to everyone,

A while back I posted on ballreviews trying to raise interest in possibly hosting a large scratch tournament at Arlington Lanes with the prize of a new car for 1st place.

Shortly after the original post was made I created a facebook group to help spread the word.  The facebook group has gone very well and attracted a lot of interest.  To date there are just over 500 members.

To set our plans into motion the first and foremost goal is to raise the money necessary to guarantee the car for 1st.

To raise this money Arlington Lanes will be hosting a candle-lite fundaiser on the night of Saturday, July 24th, 2010 from 6pm to close.

Here''s how the event will work:

The event is COMPLETELY FREE...HOWEVER...this is a fundraiser, so we will be trying to raise as much money as possible.

Anyone attending should show up at or before 6pm, as the full dinner buffet will be served at 6:45pm.  The dinner will be followed by a small dessert buffet of assorted pastries.  After dinner, at 8pm, anyone interested will be able to bowl 3 games.  While bowling, we will be running various ball raffles, silent auctions, 50/50 raffles, as well as some 50/50 pots, and a "roll off" tournament for $10.

100% of the money collected will go to pay for the car so that it will be guarnateed for 1st place when the inaugural tournament is held in July of 2011.

here''s a quick review of the details:

WHAT: FUNDRAISER TO GUARANTEE A NEW CAR FOR 1ST AT THE INAUGURAL 2011 TOURNAMENT

WHERE: ARLINGTON LANES, 3435 N. KENNICOTT AVE, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL, 60004

WHEN: SATURDAY, JULY 24TH, 2010, 6PM - CLOSE

HOW MUCH: IT''S COMPLETELY FREE FOR ALL GUESTS

HOW DO I ATTEND: ANYONE PLANNING ON ATTENDING WILL NEED TO CONTACT ME (MARK) aka SPEEDBURNER89 EITHER THROUGH BALLREVIEWS, FACEBOOK, OR VIA EMAIL AT JUNIORBOWLINGCOACH@GMAIL.COM.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I BRING: THERE IS A STRICT LIMIT OF ONE GUEST FOR EACH PERSON BOWLING.  ANYONE BOWLING WILL BE THERE TO HELP FUNDRAISE SO WE ASK ALL ATTENDANTS TO BE ATLEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.

Also, If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  I truly hope this event will be a success and the tournament can run without a hitch the following year in July of 2011.  I look forward to hearing from anyone interested and if you plan on attending please let me know asap, and I hope to see you there!

thanks again,
Mark

A quick update.  I talked to Brad Snell and he seemed really interested.  He's a really nice guy and was very enthusiastic about the whole concept.  Better yet, we bowl the Monday Scratch Sport League at Beverly and  with his help I'm sure we can draw a lot of league bowlers to the event.

Miller: A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
