I use two different methods, but both are effective, depending on the conditions.
I do have one of the older pearlized hammers, the red pearl version. If my black hammer is checking early, I will try it out. With enough backends, I can usually move right just a bit with it, and use the dry spot I created to create the ball motion I need.
If there isn't enough backend for the red pearl, I will do exactly what someone else mentioned, and amp up my ball speed enough to hold the line longer and keep it in the pocket with speed.
Using speed to get urethane through the early burn can be tough, and is sometimes a trip to tenpin city, especially with a bit of carrydown. For me though, I'm usually far enough to the outside of the lane to help create some angle.
