Nothing wrong with having an odd number of teams. But obviously you would try to avoid it, even though every team should face the "blind" team the same number of weeks if the team number was odd from the very beginning. But once a league is established, why would you want to add an odd team? It would be impossible to even out the schedule, let alone having to re-vote on the prize fund since new money would be added. Now teams would have some idea where they might finish a quarter or half and that would obviously influence what type of prize fund they voted for. Plus this far in, what your team's record be? Would you really start a league at 0-60??? If a few teams are added in the first few weeks, they can all post bowl each other to make up the games.
