Oh No!
« on: June 22, 2006, 01:53:08 AM »
I moved to a new city recently after graduating from college.  It's not a terribly small town, about 20,000 people.  Surprisingly, there is only one bowling alley here, and it only has 8 lanes.  Even more surprisingly, the bowling alley is closed all summer except when the weather is crappy.  Apparently they get no business when the weather is nice, because there are a lot of lakes around here.

I'm praying for rain, otherwise I'll have to drive 60 miles to the next closest bowling alley!

20,000 isn't that small because I'm from North Dakota.  I grew up in a town of 3,500.

Starkville is probably 20-25K, but our house is open year round.  When my wife and I go back to Ohio to visit her dad, the alley there is only open two or three days a week during the summer, and then only limited hours.  They do have summer leagues on the days that they do open.

Really surprised me.  But then again, I'd've never believed a gas station would close for the night until I came to MS either.  The attached body shop, of course, but not the gas pumps.

My town population is around 17,000, the town to my south is about 30,000 (or more) and the town to my north is about 100,000, yet most of the bowling centers are closed saturday-teusday.
