Title: Oil Out!
Post by: Stroker812 on March 05, 2008, 02:17:58 PM
I have some read many posts on getting oil out of balls. I have tried heaters, the hot water soaks, ball cleaners ect... problem is ,it seems the oil just keeps on a comin'. I clean them after every use and use hot water bath w Dawn but when I put them in front of heaters they continue to ooze out oil. Especially my BWick Rampage and Storm Jolts, to some extent my Total Inferno. I typically roll 10-20 gms a week and loose some ball reaction and want to keep the balls performance level as high as possible. Any tips or cleaners that really pull out the oil real good?

Find a shop with a Revivor, I've had some older balls sweat for 2 full days at 130F.

What gets me is the Rampage is only 3mo old and the T Inferno is 3wks, how the heck is all this oil in here when I clean often? I know the cover stocks make a differance but this is rediculous with as much as I clean, right after use or next morning.

Nope, after the oil was extracted, they were put in the Haus and the ball was an animal again.

Stroker, it really depends on the amount of games you bowl, not the duration you've had them.

I bowl sometimes 50 games a week sometimes more and I revive my stuff after about 50 games heck it can take up to 2 to 4 hours of heat to get all the oil out and thats after a week of bowling. They soak it up alot faster then you think

Like Nick said, find a proshop with a revivior and let them take the the oil out with a guarentee with no harm to the ball.

Stroker,
Some of the oil has started soaking in between the time it hits the pit and the ball rack. I check mine after about 60 games and they're usually soaked and take several hours in the Revivor. I'm very conscientious with keeping the ball clean after each use, and using a towel between shots, too.

I don't know who said it, but he said to buy a Rubbermaid plastic container and cut a hoe for a hair dryer and make your own rejuvenator.

So I did, I spent $5 bought a pretty big plastic container with a lid took my wife's old two speed hair dryer cut a hole, stuck the hair dryer in turned it on low placed an old ball in it as a test and after 5 minutes oil was coming out like crazy, it never got too hot and worked great.  So who ever mentioned that Thanks

revivor is the best solultion for this, as BrunsNick said.  The Pro Shop i work in has one and i love that thing.  I have used it 4 or 5 times on my scorchin inferno.  however, we do it at 160 F.  These balls can bleed for hours upon hours.  however, the machine is expensive so not all the pro shops have them even though they should.

The TI finally quit oozing after the all nite heat. The Rampage still had oil comin out after 12hrs, low heat temp could be why it's takin so long. Used about 10 towels for all the oil. The do-it yourself "rejuvinator" is a great idea, will definetly try it. TKS to all.
