Oil Pattern for International Tournament Last Week
« on: August 17, 2008, 01:38:52 AM »
UK Triple Crown last week, oiling machine broke down half way through oiling for the first set of games on the first day.. so they went to the older machine from then on... for the first set of doubles this is the pattern that was down (actual tape reading)...

Check it out... http://www.rpsenterprise.com/oilpattern.JPG

I managed an 665 on this, which was the highest in the center for the doubles.. then it seemed to get worse and worse for the Trios and 5s... apparently someone was messing with the machine to try and fix it..

Past the arrows it was basicly a flat pattern with a reverse blocked outside..

The lanes seemed pretty dry, but you couldn't throw the ball out in case you hit the wetter outsides (ignore the blue line, thats only till 15ft or something!).  So you had to use something weak, which didn't finish at all...

What a fun tournament lol

What you have is a graph of the pattern and not a readout of the pattern itself so anything really definitive about the pattern is a little hard to discern.  However it looks to me like they were trying to make a track slot between 8 and 12 on the right hand side.  This was probably greatly influenced by the center's normal house pattern or maybe it was the THS.  Doesn't appear to me to be all that difficult a pattern but of course that would depend a great deal on the lane surface and where most were playing as the day went on.

Am afraid your totally wrong..

It WAS a taping of the lane, not the graph of the pattern.

The standard pattern in the centre is not am american style THS, and is generally a 4:1 medium oil condition.

I don't know how you could say it doesnt look too hard... for the majority of the pattern there is more oil the farther right you go...
