Oil removal

How do you extract the oil out of a reactive ball if the DeTox and Revivor didn't work? I have a few newer balls that have close to 100 games on them and I know they have absorbed oil but I can't remove the oil. I've tried sanding the balls down to 400 grit before using the DeTox and Revivor.

The balls are Brunswick Phantom and Radical Incognito.

Why do you think the DeTox and Revivor didn't work?

Was it just because the ball didn't react the way you thought it would after deoiling?

After deoiling your going to have to adjust your surfaces to match it back up to the current conditions. Especially if you sanded to 400 before deoiling.

I recently bought the NuBall Ball Rejuvinator from Salmon Creek off of Amazon.

I put almost all my stuff in it.  New and old.  Some with at least 100 games on it.  Some I wouldn't be surprised if they had 500+ games on it. If even sanded them down to 500 with my ball spinner first before putting it in.

Bottom line,  if it was a solid a ton of oil came out.  Hybrid got some oil out of it.  If it was a pearl very little oil came out of it.

Aloarjr810, I didn't get any oil to come out of the cover stock of either ball while in the Revivor and the water didn't get cloudy in the DeTox. This is how I know that neither ball released the oil that's in the cover. The balls absorb oil because I can see the oil lines when they come back from the ball return and I watch it absorb in. I've used the DeTox and Revivor many times in the past and had great results with other balls but not these 2.

So the question becomes is there performance loss that you are trying to fix? Or are you just doing maintenance?

I use a Nu Ball Rejuvinator and I don't get a ton of oil out of Brunswick and Motiv covers.

Storm covers have always bled a lot of oil for me and had bigger performance change over lifespan for me as well.

Svstar, the two balls have lost some performance that I'm trying to get back. I just don't understand how the covers can absorb oil but not release it back out.

I would say don't get hung up on seeing it visually.

I've had a Brunswick Absolute Nirvana for 4 years now. It only gets used when there's higher volume. Bowling sport shot league and average around 1 tournament a month. I've never had much oil come out visually.

The pours out of the Brunswick facility also have thinner coverstocks. They might heat up faster and evaporate oil before it accumulates on the surface.

My experience with those brands and a NuBall oven is similar. There's never anything to wipe off during or after the session. Definitely not the case with Utah pours (that aren't cleaned regularly at least) or those that were from Kentucky.
