Ball Weight
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:39:11 PM »
hey i know this may sound strange to some but i bought a ball almost a year ago from a respectable pro shop...this has been my "go to" in many tourneys but as of last week i come to find out (after purchasing my cell) the BWP i was throwin is
14 oz less then my Cell!!!!

WTF!!!!!

so the guy who sold me my BWP in Sept 07 sold me a 14 lb ball and told me it wsa a 15 lb ball...bein a good friend of a mine i naturally trusted him but in this situation i didnt know what to do?

any suggestions?

Makes sense. Glad the Cell is working for you. My brother bought one and it rolls as good as anything I have seen. I have one, just not sure how I want to punch it up.

Good bowling

well the thing is that it was the only ball i was throwing for a year cause i didnt have any money to buy another ball... :/

so i never noticed it til like last week when i had bought my new
Cell(which i may add is a beast)

Man this makes absolutely no sense at all you say you were trying to pick up ball speed, well throwing a lighter ball than usual will do that so there goes that reasoning. Getting a ball that is a pound heavier is going to slow the ball down not speed it up, makes no sense at all

Carl,

I don't claim to be an expert, but I seem to remember some on this site that have said that going to a heavier ball will increase speed, all things equal. The pendulum effect increases speed.

You may be correct if you are muscling the ball, though.

Just plain common sense would tell you that you can throw something faster that is lighter, not trying to give you a hard time. You can also get more revs throwing lighter
