Old advice for youngsters!!
« on: August 01, 2004, 07:21:05 AM »
Some of you are parents, been through the rigors of watching a young one grow up.
Some of you younger ones, say in their 20's can remember what it was like to be young and coming up.

How about some things you learned as a youngster to encourage the lurking teens.

My son wasn't lucky enough to live near some big name pro's for help.
Parker told us he was lucky to grow up in Jersey area and got great advice from some of those local guys.

College was out, he has a mild learning disability. He wasted a year off of bowling, and $8,000 at a dumb computer tech school to try and learn something worth while!! SO he missed the college circuit, we don't know anything about that or the JBT's.

Everyone should have a fall back plan if they can't succeed at bowling.

If you or your kid was in their early teens and serious, what would your advice be to them????

I've always felt a woman should be able to bowl as well as any man. I wish I had the money, I'd invest in some of the local young gals who have what it takes to do just that!!!!

I've always bowled with a 16 pound ball until last year. I've had folks watching me, who didn't know me tell me I needed a heavier ball!! I'd laugh and say, they don't make them any heavier. I did get better pin reaction and more strikes than most the women I bowled with, but I can't focus enough to spare!!!

With the new technology a 15 pound ball does better than the old balls. Gives some of these women more of a shot. I'd love to see a woman on the National's on TV!

Look out fellas, it's going to happen!!

He got a certificate for finishing the dumb school. Employers aren't impressed with that school.
We should've researched it a lot more.
I do agree, you need a back-up.
He's trying to figure out what his back-up is going to be.
He's working a job he really doesn't like right now. Needs to decide what is right for him.

Wow, you actually mean that I should have a backup plan in case some catastophic event may occur and I lose use of my right hand and I can never bowl again?

::jots that down::

I've seen the light!...thanks alot!

Good Point Jimmy T about maybe it wasn't the schools rep.

I lack education and can get jobs those with less have because of my confidence factor.

My husband and brother both got jobs as a second choice, they didn't impress interviewers with their answers.

Your point of the impression I'll bring up to him.
Thanks!

I think i belong in both catagories i am going to a stupid tech school, and taking accounting, and i am running a proshop at the sametime. well my best advice is getting a day job might be a second priority and bowling his first but later on he's going to realize that being a trade, during the day and a bowling center hustler at night can satisfy both of his needs. lol
